RPA to the Power of Cognitive

While many enterprises are tapping into the power of RPA tech to automate repetitive business tasks, most are still depending on human labor to code automations. However, the true potential of RPA will only be realized when combined with cognitive functionality such as it is with 1RPA.

The value of Robotic Process Automation (RPA) is quickly rising within the enterprise. A recent survey from Deloitte of “400 individuals across many industries with a combined value of $1.8 trillion” found that 53% of respondents have already started implementing RPA into their organizations, and this number is expected to increase to 72% in the next two years. Based on the survey’s data, Deloitte predicts “near-universal adoption within the next five years.”

While many enterprises are tapping into the power of RPA technology to automate repetitive business tasks, most still depend on human labor to design and/or code automations. However, the true potential of RPA will only be realized when partnered with cognitive functionality. Not only does cognitive technology make the designing of new RPAs quicker and cheaper, but it opens the process to a wider swath of users (including those with limited technical training).

Cognitive as a tool of bot empowerment

IPsoft’s RPA platform 1RPA has various cognitive elements, which make it far easier to use and intelligent than other solutions available in the market. Notably, the system’s state-of-the-art Natural Language Reading (NLR) functionality both reads and understands any unstructured text it encounters (be it on web pages, emails, or programs, etc.). This intelligent structuring of unstructured data can happen on-the-fly and allows humans to forgo the often-arduous process of structuring relevant data to build automations.

1RPA’s intelligent structuring enables the system to observe a user perform an action once and automatically translate all the steps into a new RPA. For example, if a user wanted to build a simple automation that would log into an HR system and record how many days off an employee has left, they need only hit “record” within 1RPA and perform all the necessary steps one time (e.g., opening the HR system, logging in, clicking on “time-off,” etc.). 1RPA will automatically translate these steps into a new automation – no additional coding is necessary. Developers save time, and internal business processes are quickly automated, delivering productivity benefits. (Watch a video here to see how the bot described above can be created in just a matter of minutes.)

Cognitive technology can also support rapid and easy bot design through conversation. 1RPA comes embedded with Amelia, our industry-leading digital colleague with whom end users can directly interact through conversation. Amelia is especially adept at discerning user intent via spoken or typed input, so she can assist a non-technical user with designing a new bot in a rapid manner. Amelia will begin by asking a series of relevant questions and then walk the user through the process step-by-step.

1RPA’s cognitive underpinnings open up bot-creation to those without in-depth coding knowledge. This means that bot design can be made available to subject matter experts (SMEs) and other non-technical staff, accelerating the creation of new automations based on a deep knowledge of a specific business area. RPAs can be transformative within an enterprise, and the real excitement lies in cognitive AI’s ability to open access to RPA creation to a wider swath of business users.

The Intelligent Contact Center

Companies have spent decades implementing Interactive Voice Response (IVR) systems in their call and customer care centers, but they've proven unable to keep up with customers' expectations.

In this white paper, we examine the benefits of an Intelligent Contact Center, where companies utilize Conversational AI-powered virtual agents to provide first-line resolution and support for customers, and augment human employees through AI and automation.

Download our paper to learn the benefits of this approach and why current IVR systems simply will not cut it in today’s hyper-paced digital landscape.
